10 Things I Learned Traveling in Iceland

  1. About half the nation of Iceland believes in elves & trolls.
  2. Iceland has a ton of hot springs.
  3. The hot springs are hot from the geothermal energy – the energy beneath the ground.
  4. In Iceland they speak Icelandic.
  5. Reykjavik is the biggest city in Iceland.
  6. Reykjavik is the capital city.
  7. Every year Iceland gets a tiny bit bigger from the North American tectonic plate and the Eurasian tectonic plate moving further apart.
  8. The earth’s second biggest glacier is in Iceland.
  9. To walk on a glacier you have to wear crampons so you won’t slip on the ice.
  10. The most popular thing to do in Iceland is go to a hot water spring.  The Icelanders call them hot pots.
